The United States General Accounting Organization found that employers are underutilizing the hiring, retaining and accommodation tax incentives available to business for employing people with disabilities. Here is a list of federal tax incentives:

  • Work Opportunity Credit : To encourage hiring of economically disadvantaged including people with disabilities.
           Maximum amount: $2,400 per employee eligible

  • Disabled Access Credit: To help small businesses provide accommodations to customers and employees.
          Maximum amount: $5,000 per year

  • Barrier Removal Deduction: To make businesses and transportation vehicles accessible.
          Maximum amount: $15,000 per year
