National Organizations

The following are national organizations with websites that offer valuable information and even some matching services to find people with disabilities interested in employment in your business.

USBLN  The US Business Leadership Network (USBLN®) is the national business organization currently representing BLN chapters in 32 states and more than 5000 employers using a “business to business” strategy to promote the business imperative of including people with disabilities in the workforce.

EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION  Enforces the employment provisions of the ADA.

NATIONAL ORGANIZATION ON DISABILITY  Offers information and resources on disability issues.

JOB ACCOMMODATIONS NETWORK  Information and direct consultation on job accommodations for people with disabilities.

APSE - ASSOCIATION FOR PERSONS IN SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT Information about supported employment services across the nation.

WORKSUPPORT.COM  Web site offering information resources and research to connect employers with people with disabilities.

THE NATIONAL REHABILITATION INFORMATION CENTER  A library and information center focusing on disability and rehabilitation research. The NARIC Web page includes five searchable databases which provide more than 60,000 resources.

GREAT LAKES ADA CENTER  This is one of the regional centers funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, a division of the U.S. Department of Education. It provides technical assistance and training to businesses and people with disabilities regarding the ADA. It provides training sessions on request on topics such as employment rights and responsibilities, reasonable accommodations, government responsibilities, disability awareness and effective communication.
